The mind and soul are two concepts that I often refer to which are closely related yet very distinct from one another. They both come from the inner part of us as individuals, particularly in the brain and sometimes (for myself in particular) the heart.

The mind is where all of our thinking, reasoning, and applying knowledge takes place, and as individuals this is where our consciousness begins. It starts in our brain and is further manifested through our thoughts, actions, emotions, will, memory, and imagination. I believe anyone can control what happens in the mind; it is how we react and the actions we take from our thoughts that determine our happiness. If we have a healthy mindset, we to can live a healthy and happy, fulfilled life.

Our minds are where we also decide to take pleasure, what we should do achieve it, and how it should be fulfilled. It is our individual thought processes of reasoning and for every single one of us, that little voice you hear inside your head; the thoughts we are flooded with whether they are positive and/or negative. The mind is made up of 4 components and below is a description of each:

1/4 Thought, which allows an individual to shape their world and deal with it to achieve their goals, plans, and desires.

1/4 Memory, which is our ability to retain, store and recall information.

1/4 Imagination, which is our ability to create ideas about certain things and experiences.

1/4 Consciousness, which is our ability to perceive our relationship with our environment.

I lived many years in a mindset where I felt lost, scared, confused and nothing seemed to ever be good enough (from my perspective). It wasn't until I realised that I am the controller of my thoughts and processes, which further lead to the emotions and behaviours I was undertaking that this all changed. I began making small incremental changes to the way in which I thought about everything, I began focusing on how amazing and privileged I am to be alive and living, the positives in even the smallest of things, and aligning the mind with the 'soul' was the biggest of all. The mind and soul is what I truly believe makes us up as people and I believe if you have a healthy mindset, your soul will be vibrant, energised and full and health and happiness. I wish for everyone to free their minds a little every now and then and be open to change, new possibilities and the endless opportunities we are constantly given yet may not always see (with a narrow mindset).

'We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves'.
